The tallmanian Movie Challenge: Round 7 Answers

by tallman

The winner for Round 7 is a three way tie between EvilTwin12387, Samael and naturallmyistic, each scoring a perfect 10 (first time anyone ever scored a perfect 10 - great job people). Since EvilTwin12387 hasn't won before, I'll be giving her the choice of prize DVDs.

So we went from the hardest month evar to the easiest month evar (consider it your Holiday present). I'll try to be more balanced from here on out.

Oh, and due to technical issues, I accidentally lost all the title screenshots, so you'll have to make due with the plain old linked text to see the answers...

Screenshot 1: A Christmas Story
Most of you got this Christmas classic, but then there were guesses for "The Stepford Children" and "richard 'harry potter' nixon" too, which seems to indicate that there are a few people who have escaped the 24 hour television marathons for this movie (a practice I'm getting tired of, not just for this movie either). Anywho, this is a modern classic, and well worth a watch.

Screenshot 2: Gremlins
Everyone got this one except for the person who thought it was "Furby Rocks His Schlong Off" which I'm not sure I want to see. Ever.

Screenshot 3: Love Actually
Once again, lots of you got this one, though a number of people had incorrect guesses. A fine movie though, and well worth a holiday watch with your SO:)

Screenshot 4: Elf
Most of you got this, but there's also the matter of "Trainspotting II: I SEE IT!" which... yeah, I guess I'd watch that. Weird movie though. I find myself watching it every year and liking it more and more every time I see it, though I can't really pinpoint why. Perhaps this sage advice from Santa has something to do with it: "...there are, like, thirty Ray's Pizzas. They all claim to be the original. But the real one's on 11th."

Screenshot 5: Christmas Vacation
No, this is not "Calvin and Hobbes' Plot to Get Santa's Undivided Attention" though I'm sure it could work in that capacity. Anywho, this was always a favorite scene in the tallmanian household, along with the sledding scene where he uses a cereal varnish on the sled and shoots down the hill like a fireball or something. Brilliant. That scene didn't work too well for a screenshot though, so here we are. Another (more inappropriate) guess: "Porky's VII: In Search Of The Golden Penis"

Screenshot 6: How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
Everyone got this. I did accept just "The Grinch" from a couple people, but that's plenty close for me (especially since I was cheating by including a TV show)... Nice work folks, it's a classic.

Screenshot 6

Screenshot 7: It's a Wonderful Life
Almost everyone got this, as well they should. A classic, and one of my favorites of all time. Anyway, someone did guess "Arsenic and Old Lace" which was kinda funny:)

Screenshot 7

Screenshot 8: Miracle on 34th Street
It doesn't get much better than an "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" double feature! Anyway, I was pleased to see that most people did indeed get this one, except for the "The [White] Mask of Zorro" guess. Nice work.

Screenshot 9: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Everyone got this correct. I always forget how much people love this movie. I haven't seen it in years, but I loved it...

Screenshot 10: Trading Places
An ok showing for this one, but it appears to be one of the least known of the month. If you haven't seen this, it's an excellent movie. It takes place all throughout the holidays, starting around Thanksgiving and proceeding through New Years. For some reason, despite not strictly being a holiday movie, I watch it every year. Awesome stuff. Some funny answers: "Santa Claus: Unwashed Attorney-at-Law" and "Tootsie"
