The tallmanian Movie Challenge: Round 6 Answers

by tallman

The winner of round 4 is... Nerdpower13, with a whopping 9 correct answers, which is apparently something of a feat this month, as I didn't get many entries (even Samael only got 7 right!) Random came in a close second with 8 correct answers. Great job, and thanks for all who participated.

Apparently I made this month too hard. That or everyone got sick of the game. Even with hints, most people didn't even bother to enter. The next challenge will be simpler! Right now, Samael and Sovawanea are doing pretty well on the cumulative front... So here are the answers to round 6:

Screenshot 1: Planes, Trains & Automobiles
One of the two Thanksgiving themed screens... I'm kinda surprised that this wasn't an automatic point for everyone, but a few got it wrong. I also accepted "Trains, Planes, & Automobiles" as a correct answer. Whoever answered "Thin Man and the Big Blueberry Goober in Edden." did not get any points. Heh.

I'm not even particularly in love with this movie, but it is well made and it was the only other Thanksgiving movie I could think of... And naturally, only one of you got this one right. In an odd bit of coincidence, at least two of you gave fake answers that had something to do with "The Facts of Life" including my favorite: "The Facts of Life Reunion: Older, Drunker, Funner." Heh.

Screenshot 3: Near Dark
The original Twilight? Whatever, it's a fun little vampire movie. I also accepted "Nixon" as an answer, but not "Rebel Dentists." Heh.

Screenshot 4: North by Northwest
Not my favorite Hitchcock, but one of the better ones nonetheless. Most of you actually got this one, except for the person who answered "Face/Off" which is actually pretty funny. Heh.

Screenshot 5: The Walking Dead
This one was meant to be impossible, and sure enough, no one got this one. I got some great answers though, including "Piano Man: The Billy Joel Story" and "While My Piano Gently Weeps" and "Sad Panda" and "Amadeus" (of course!)

Screenshot 6: The Blair Witch Project
And we reach an easy one that just about everyone got right. Nice job people! I do love this movie. Some people say it doesn't hold up well, but I thought it was great...

Screenshot 7: The Thing
No, this is not "Highlander" though apparently it looks like a certain someone's father-in-law, circa 1972. Awesome movie though, one of the best horror movies of all time.

Screenshot 8: Alien
Most of you got this right, so good on ya. If you haven't seen this, it's well worth a watch. You probably don't want to watch "Porky's VI - Revenge Of The Penis" though. Or maybe you do. Who am I to tell you what to watch?

Screenshot 9: In the Mouth of Madness
One of the more underrated horror movies of the 90s. It doesn't really approach The Thing or Halloween, but it's still interesting and quite creepy. Anyway, this was a hard one, but you did alright here. My hint for this was that the character pictured was Sutter Cane, which I'm sorry to inform you, is not a wine. Another funny answer: "2 Fast 2 Fluffiest". Heh.

Screenshot 10: Shaun of the Dead
Another that most of you did well with. Nice job! And it's a great movie too. Rare is the movie that manages to be both a parody and a good example of a the genre it's parodying.

That wraps up this round. Good luck on the next one (which I promise is slightly easier)!
