Poetry

The theme of the poems are Seasonal to go with Kurt's contest.

This one is from naturallmyistic: (its untitled.)

long summer daydreams
i watched the rain fall softly,
not a real storm,
more like a wedge driven
in the sky
to break the sweet summer heat.
lightning flashed,
thunder softly whispered in the sky,
as if afraid to startle the clouds,
into a real evening shower.
i raised my eyes through the warm sticky air,
and peeked through soft, wet eyelashes,
droplets fell from eyebrows,
bare feet pushed the swing.
I thought of you in the rhythm
and the sway of your body.
My eyes closed gently swept into a dream

And this one is from Alguna:

Summer Fruit
She opens her eyes and the light streams in
Flooding the room and her lazily relaxed semi-consciousness
Looking at the bright white of the ceiling, she thinks of him
Gazing dreamily at the effects of sunshine on her ceiling
And on her life
She lays out on the porch roof
Soaking up the destructive but soft warm rays
Eating the juicy stone fruits
Apricots, peaches, plums, pluots
Dripping and sticky
She gazes up at the sun in the clouds through her sunglasses
And thinks she could get a wonderful picture
But when she takes off the shades
She finds the sun is far too bright to be photographed
She sighs
Knowing that the beautiful image is only hers
That although she'd like to
She cannot share this beauty with anyone
She cannot prove it happened
That it was so amazing
The way the sun looked
The way he was when they woke up in the mornings
All she can have is the memory
And feasting on that thought
And the sweetest apricot
She turns her head away from the sky
Looks down to earth
And finds that sometimes it's worth looking down
When he smiles the way she remembered
